March 24, 2009 - Milton, Ontario, Canada - In an effort to provide resources for robotics students across North America, Enable Training and Consulting Inc. has announced a new collaboration with PTC®. Both companies are dedicated to promoting skill and innovation in young learners, and together, they will be creating and distributing curriculum to support students participating in the FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) Technical Challenge (FTC). This project will focus on encouraging participants to think critically about designing and building robots, as well as programming their machines to think and move.
Enable Training and Consulting is the provider of LVMastery.com, the first self-paced video-based online training resource for LabVIEW™ users. This past year, Enable has been involved in the FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC), both locally in Canada, and the United States. “We’re thoroughly impressed and inspired by the talent demonstrated by students” said President Ben Zimmer. “It’s amazing how quickly they’ve risen to the challenge of employing the same hardware and software tools used by industry professionals.” In addition to courses for LabVIEW™ users, the LVMastery.com web site features FRC tips and tricks through regular video blogs (www.LVMastery.com/FRCTipJar) as well as forums and online Webinars with experts. Company president Ben Zimmer has also delivered several regional seminars.
PTC is a market leader in product design and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) solutions for product development and, is actively involved with education and the sponsorship of FIRST. PTC’s commitment to quality engineering extends beyond industry, to assisting future engineers in schools and in technical competitions. As part of a three-year sponsorship, PTC supports and develops curriculum and resources used in over 30,000 schools, and looks forward to continued involvement in FTC.
Enable and PTC will be presenting workshops at the 2009 FIRST Championship in Atlanta, Georgia on April 16 -18, 2009. Both companies keenly anticipate meeting the many dedicated students, teachers and mentors who have made this year’s competition such a success.
